Goji juice health thoughts!

Health discoveries in the last decade have been fairly revolutionary. There is a common theme that seems to permiate these discoveries: that if you can get the right nutrients into your body, it will do an AMAZING job of fighting off disease and remaining healthy.

One of these discoveries is the Acid/Alkaline balance of your body. It's been known for a VERY long time that terminal cancer patients almost universally have acidic blood. What was unknown was why, and if the acid was a result of the cancer, or a cause.

LOTS of research has been done lately on the relationship of your acid/alkaline balance and health. A solid conclusion is that Acidic blood is BAD. It leads to a whole host of health problems. It may very well be to blame in large measure for cancer and heart disease. And guess what... the Western diet is almost ridiculously engineered to produce acidity in the blood.

What produces a more alkaline reaction in the blood? You guessed it - a more vegetation-rich diet. Unprocessed natural foods tend to have an alkaline result on your body, with some very notable high-benefit foods: Chlorophyl-rich foods have a very alkaline effect on your body; so grass juices such as wheatgrass, barley, and other greens are really great. Raw nuts, especially almonds, are also very alkaline.

Want to guess which food has the MOST alkaline effect on your body?

Yep. Goji Berries.

They have 20 TIMES the alkaline effect on your blood that pure wheatgrass juice does!

Why do people use goji berries?

Goji berries have been used for 6,000 years by herbalists in China, Tibet and India to:

  • protect the liver
  • help eyesight
  • improve sexual function and fertility
  • strengthen the legs
  • boost immune function
  • improve circulation
  • promote longevity
Goji berries are rich in antioxidants, particularly carotenoids such as beta-carotene and zeaxanthin. One of zeaxanthin's key roles is to protect the retina of the eye by absorbing blue light and acting as an antioxidant. In fact, increased intake of foods containing zeathanthin may decrease the risk of developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD), the leading cause of vision loss and blindness in people over the age of 65.

In recent years, goji juice has become popular as a health beverage. Companies marketing goji juice often mention the unsupported claim that a man named Li Qing Yuen consumed goji berries daily and lived to be 252 years old. Marketers also list extensive health benefits of goji juice, even though there are few published clinical trials in humans.

Wolfberry

Wolfberry’s value to human health was explored in China thousands of years ago. It has been cited by several ancient Chinese Medica since the Tang Dynasty (1000-1400 A. D) for its multiple health benefits, such as: nourishing the Yin (Yin-Yang theory is the fundamental theory of Chinese Traditional Medicine. Yin represents the material part of the body and Yang represents the energy and function of the body), strengthening the eyes, liver and kidney and nourishing the blood. Wolfberry fruits are used in many herbal formulas to maintain overall health when suffering from chronic conditions, such as weariness of the loins and legs, dizziness and ringing in the ear, visual degeneration, headaches, insomnia, chronic liver diseases, diabetes, tuberculosis, and hypertension. Ancient people used wolfberry fruit to make tea, soup, stew and wine or chewed them like raisins. Scientists in modern China have extensively studied wolfberry fruits, their nutrients and their medical benefits. They have further substantiated the ancient medical applications such as: maintain healthy immune system (including specific and non-specific immune response), improving eye conditions, support healthy liver function, maintain healthy blood pressure and blood sugar. Wolfberry is also an excellent herb for anti-oxidant and anti-aging.

Is Goji Juice Really as Good as it is Being Promoted As?

That’s the million-dollar question being asked, and answered, in this video, which exposes the truth about the latest health craze sweeping across Canada and into the United States.

Goji juice is hyped as the cure-all remedy for 34 different ailments, including arthritis, diabetes and cancer. But the truth is both shocking and infuriating, as they uncover the lack of nutritional value of the goji juice in the lab.

Earl Mendel—the well-respected author of the Vitamin Bible—is the face of Himalayan Goji, and he’s making some pretty hefty claims about the berry. And that’s the problem. Upon probing, he admits he’s talking about the berry—not necessarily the juice!

Himalayan Goji juice is not sold in stores, but rather through a multi-level marketing plan. At about $50 per bottle, there’s lots of money being made, but there does not seem to be enough proof to back up the amazing health claims of the juice itself.

It is said that the Himalayas were home to the world’s first natural healers. These early herbalists then shared their wisdom with the people of China, Tibet, and India, where it helped to found some of the world’s most ancient medical traditions. Among the most prized Himalayan secrets was a tiny red berry called Goji which became so popular that visitors brought them home and propagated them around the region. Since then, Goji has become a staple of Asian medicinal foods.

In some of the most remote places on earth, it is not uncommon for someone to live 100 years, despite the harsh environment. Research has shown that some of the longest-lived people in on earth eat Goji berries as a regular part of their diet. Packed with amino acids, antioxidants, and beneficial polysaccharides, the Goji berry’s full health-promoting profile has only recently come to Western attention.

Uses Of The Goji Plant

The dried fruit is beginning to be sold in the west as a health food where it is associated with wide claims for its benefits. The berry is said to contain 2500mg of vitamin C per 100 grams of fruit making it the second richest plant source of the vitamin after the South American CamuCamu.

Goji Juice Research

We have researched goji juice and goji berries thoroughly and have presented the information found in scientific studies here. If you are looking for general information about goji juice, check

There are dozens of species of Lycium that grow wild throughout the world, but not all are edible.

Scientific names: Lycium barbarum; Lycium chinense; Lycium europeaum (These are all different species of the plant, but have similar properties. Many botanists unite the three species under the name L. barbarum, but they are, in fact, distinct. There are several other species that grow throughout Asia, Europe and the US that may contain similar nutritional and anti-aging benefits).

Common names: Gou qi zi, Goji, wolfberry, lycium fruit, bastard jasmine, box thorn, tea tree, matrimony vine

How to Grow a Goji Berry Plant

If you have ever considered growing goji berries, you should start off with some basic information such as the fact that the plant's scientific name is Lycium barburum. More commonly known as the goji berry plant, it has an extensive root system that was undoubtedly developed while adapting to the rugged terrain in Mongolia, the plant's native habitat.

Nurseries in Utah have found that the goji berry plant also grows well in that region. Once the plant has been well established, it thrives in the near-drought conditions that exist in and around parts of Utah. Nurseries selling the plant assure local gardeners that a lack of shade should not create problems for a grower of the goji berry plant. The plant prefers full sun.

Those same nurseries have tried to provide the grower of the goji berry plant with information about the primary features of the plant. Yet the information from those Utah nurseries fails to define the exact manner in which the plant develops. The information from the nurseries suggests that the goji berry plant could qualify as either a bush or a vine. It seems to be a bush-like plant with trailing vines that reach out from a bushy center.

Goji Juice

Few people in our Western Civilization have ever heard of Goji juice. In the past 2 years in the United States, the popularity of Goji products have skyrocketed. As the Baby Boomer Generation is entering into their 60’s, health problems and concerns are reaching unprecedented levels. Why the sudden popularity of Goji juice?

For one thing, it is one of the most nutritionally dense food source known on earth. Secondly, it is considered to be the richest source of antioxidants in our planet as well. Thirdly, it is said to possess 4 unique polysaccharides not found in many other food sources. There are many Goji Berry juice products on the market today, some state they are 98% juice.

If you read the fine print however, you will discover that the other fruit juices in the product are not just for flavoring, but often make up well more than 50% of the contents. When purchasing Goji juice, it is recommended that the percentage of pure Goji juice be available on the label or in their literature so you have something to go by.

A good thing about all goji juice is that the taste is great. There is not many times where something that is good for your health tastes so good. It is hard to describe the taste of goji juice it is some where between pear and cranberry juice but you will have to taste it your self to tell. Most bottles are in 32oz. Sizes and the recommended daily dose is 1oz.

Tim O'shea has been practicing and researching nutrition and health related products for many years. Since goji berry juice has become more popular in the US in the recent years his research has been guide mostly in that direction. This product and more can be found at http://www.gojiberries.us

Goji Benefits

Originating from one of the most remote, mountainous regions on earth, the Goji berry is most famously associated with extraordinary longevity. In places where the Goji berry is a dietary staple, life spans of over 100 years are fairly common.

The Goji berry’s nutritional profile is both unique and complex, leading to its reputation as one of the greatest nutritional plants on earth.

In all, there are reported to be 34 health benefits from the Goji berry. While many of these have been confirmed by rigorous scientific research, studies are still ongoing. However, we do know about some of the compounds behind these health claims. Goji contains the polysaccharide "Master Molecules" named LBP1, LBP2, LBP3, and LBP4. Goji contains the highest levels of these 4 molecules, plus all of the essential amino acids, high levels of several vitamins, and 21 trace minerals. Among the trace minerals found in Goji berries are some very uncommon trace nutrients such as germanium, rarely found in foods.

Where Can I Find Goji Products?

As a relative newcomer to natural healing, goji is not yet a regular staple in health food and vitamin stores. Producers of the product have rather strict guidelines about its storage and shelf-life; and these guidelines are difficult for mass outlets to offer.

Currently, the best place to learn about goji and try it for yourself is through the Internet. Just enter the word in your favorite search engine, and you'll be taken to dozens of sites that offer books, newsletters, and all forms of goji products. Some retailers even offer money-back guarantees if you don't achieve beneficial results.

Goji products are a bit "pricey," depending on how much you buy and where you buy it from. It's about as expensive as a prescription medication, and there may be no insurance plan that covers it. So, it really depends on whether you want to spend that kind of money or not.

Goji's Health Benefits

Users believe that goji extends life, strengthens the immune system, controls hypertension, relieves headaches, controls blood sugar among diabetics, supports eye and heart health, eliminates sexual dysfunction and menopause symptoms, relieves stress and depression, eliminates insomnia, and helps with weight loss.

These are very substantial claims for the little plant, and ongoing research is testing its effectiveness in cancer treatment and prevention, HIV treatment, and DNA restoration. If goji's effectiveness in these diseases is disproved, there is no evidence that the plant causes any harm to the human body. In other words, even if it doesn't help you, goji won't harm you. It's also safe for children and household canine and feline pets.

Goji Juice Case studies

Case study 1

H.O. from San Diego, CA had irritable Bowel syndrome that affects the colon and rectum of the digestive tract which she suffered for 20 long years before she bought Digestive Support Formula of Extreme Health. She was not able to digest food containing the lactose. But after using the formula she feels relieved and fatigue free so much so that within a week she plans to start on her daily regimen of exercise and dietary watch and drinking goji juice.

Case study 2

Dr. Dawn Ewing Ph.D., N.D., Author of Let the Truth be Known: Are your teeth making you sick? Makes an interesting observation about Extreme Health’s Digestive Support Formula in a process called chelation wherein better assimilation of vitamins and minerals is possible. He says that for a better chelation, a better digestion capacity is needed and during chelation better support for excretion is needed. Because of the presence of the base vitamins in the formula, the excess metals, chemicals are removed from the arteries which facilitates digestion and liver function in absorbing free radicals.

Case study 3

Another person called L.D. say that he had Crohns disease (chronic diarrhea) for which he was taking steroids. Later on he came to know that steroids have side effects resulting in gastritis. Then he came to know about Digestion Support Formula after taking which his dosage has been on decrease.

Victoria George describes the case of her daughter Hayley who had a poor digestion problem so the undigested food became toxic for her and affected the part of her brain hindering her speech. She was always sick and was weak. She started on the enzyme therapy as a result of which she started eating and gaining weight. She took Thymate and goji juice to build on her immune system. Now she has regained her speech and is able to catch up in her class.
